Purpose
To handle xylene (or substitute clearants) safely.
Scope
All clearing-agent use and storage.

Materials & equipment
- Xylene / substitute
- Ventilation, PPE, spill kit, flameproof storage
Procedure
- Use only in a ventilated area away from ignition sources.
- Wear gloves, lab coat and eye protection.
- Store in flameproof cabinets; keep containers sealed and labelled.
- Contain spills with the spill kit; ventilate.
- Collect used xylene for approved recycling/disposal — never down the drain.

- Waste/recycling records
Safety
- Flammable and harmful by inhalation — control vapour and ignition sources.
