Histopathology LIS — from accessioning to authorised report, on one system.
The Unimeditrek Integrated Histopathology LIS is a cloud, barcode-driven laboratory information system built specifically for histopathology and cytology — tracking every case, cassette, block and slide through the whole workflow, with structured cancer reporting, QR-verified reports and zero-knowledge data privacy. Made in India, works on any device.

Accession → Grossing → Processing → Embedding → Microtomy → Staining → QC → Reporting → Authorise → Archive
A single system behind every stage of the histopathology workflow — barcode-tracked, timed and audited, so a specimen is never lost, mislabelled or untraceable.
Every cassette, block and slide — barcoded and accounted for
KGMU-2026-000009…-C1…-B1…-S1On accession the case receives a unique accession number; then every cassette, block and slide gets its own Code128 barcode, printed on site. At each bench the technician scans the item: the LIS confirms it is the right item at the right step (an integrity check flags a wrong slide or wrong station), advances the stage — optionally hands-free — and records who did what, when. The result is a complete, tamper-evident chain of custody from receipt to archive, and a real-time picture of exactly where every specimen is.
- Auto-generated case, cassette, block & slide codes
- On-site Code128 label printing — scanner-readable, no external service
- Wrong-item / wrong-station integrity alerts
- Scan-to-advance, hands-free at the bench
- Camera barcode + OCR label reading on any phone or tablet

A walk through the real system. Screens shown use an illustrative demo laboratory and sample data.

Every specimen, live — with missing-work alerts
A real-time board of every station shows what is pending, urgent or breaching TAT, and flags missing work — cassettes not embedded, blocks with no slides — so nothing is lost between benches. Scan any barcode to verify integrity and advance the stage.
- Per-station pending / urgent / breached counts
- Scan-to-verify + one-tap advance
- Chain of custody on every item

14 ready reports — branded, one click to PDF
Daily workload, sign-out log, pending & overdue, TAT compliance, cancer registry, pathologist productivity, IHC, frozen log, QMS, reagent, equipment, archive and teaching — each a branded, ready-to-print PDF. Authorised diagnostic reports carry a QR code that verifies authenticity at a public link.
- 14 operational reports as branded PDFs
- QR-verified authorised reports
- Per-lab logo, doctors & signatures

Your patients’ data is yours alone
Even Unimeditrek’s own administrators cannot open a lab’s clinical data. Support access is granted by the lab, for a limited time, and every access is logged — the strongest possible answer to “who can see our patients’ data?”
- Break-glass, lab-approved, time-limited access
- Every access logged & auditable
- Full multi-tenant isolation

Turnaround under control — with AI on watch
Live turnaround analytics, throughput and work-in-progress by stage, plus an AI scheduler that ranks open cases by breach-risk against your own TAT targets — so the team always works the right case first.
- Avg TAT, compliance % and WIP by stage
- AI breach-risk worklist
- Cancer registry & case-mix
A complete histopathology platform — not just a report writer
Sixteen integrated modules cover the diagnostic workflow, the laboratory’s quality system and its analytics — in one place, under one login.
Barcode specimen tracking
Every case, cassette, block and slide carries its own Code128 barcode, printed on site. Scan at each bench to confirm the right item is at the right step — building a documented chain of custody from receipt to archive.
Command Center
Real-time, per-station worklists with pending and urgent counts, plus missing-work alerts (cassettes not embedded, blocks with no slides) so nothing is lost between benches.
Grossing station
Organ templates, dimensions, weight, cassette summary and inked margins captured as structured data at grossing — not free text.
IHC & special stains
Order, track and result IHC and special stains, with automatic reflex-panel suggestions — for example breast → ER / PR / HER2 / Ki-67.
Frozen section
Intra-operative frozen-section workflow with live turnaround timing and paraffin-concordance tracking.
Synoptic cancer reporting
ICCR-style structured datasets for breast, prostate, colorectal, cervix, lymph node and thyroid — composed straight into the report.
ICD-O-3 coding + reflex
Curated ICD-O-3 topography and morphology coding with one-click suggestions and behaviour-based malignant / benign classification for the cancer registry.
Versioned reports + AI draft
Amendable, versioned reports with an optional AI draft-assist that prepares an editable draft for the pathologist to confirm — it never authorises or asserts a diagnosis on its own.
Reagent & inventory
Reagent register with expiry, near-expiry and low-stock flags — so a QC-critical antibody is never found empty mid-run.
Equipment & assets
Instrument register tracking AMC / CMC, preventive maintenance and calibration-due dates.
Quality (NCR / CAPA)
Raise non-conformances and incidents, run root-cause and corrective / preventive action to closure, and keep an audit-ready quality register.
Archive management
Block, slide, wet-specimen and document archive with location, retention policy and retrieve / return / dispose tracking.
Teaching & second opinion
Flag interesting cases to a teaching library and request internal second opinions on any case.
TAT analytics + AI schedule
Turnaround analytics and worklists, plus an AI scheduler that ranks open cases by breach-risk against your own TAT targets.
Reports library
14 ready lab reports — daily workload, sign-out log, pending / overdue, TAT compliance, cancer registry, pathologist productivity and more — as branded PDFs.
QR-verified reports
Every authorised report carries a QR code that verifies its authenticity at a public link — a defence against altered or forged reports.
Zero-knowledge tenant isolation — your patients’ data is yours alone
Patient and report data belongs to the laboratory — and only the laboratory. Unlike a shared database, the LIS is built so that even Unimeditrek’s own administrators cannot read a lab’s clinical data. If support ever needs access, the lab must grant it explicitly for a limited time, and every such access is logged and audited. It is the strongest possible answer to the question every hospital asks: “who can see our patients’ data?”
Combined with per-lab logins, versioned authorised reports and QR verification, it means your data stays private, your reports stay trustworthy, and your lab stays in control.
- Break-glass, time-limited support access — approved by your lab, never by us
- Every data access logged and auditable
- Full multi-tenant isolation — one platform, many labs, no crossover
- Per-lab masters: doctors & signatures, report templates, logo, workflow & TAT targets
- Versioned, authorised reports with public QR verification
Practical AI, with the pathologist always in control
AI report draft-assist
Builds an editable draft report from the specimen, site, history and stains — clearly marked “pathologist review required”. It never authorises and never asserts a definitive diagnosis on its own.
AI turnaround scheduler
Ranks every open case by its risk of breaching your TAT targets, so the team works the right cases first — with breached and at-risk worklists.
Camera scan & OCR
Read a barcode or an OCR label straight from a phone or tablet camera — no dedicated scanner needed at the bench.
Reports your clinicians can trust — and verify
Authorised reports are versioned and amendable, branded with your lab’s logo, doctors and signatures, and carry a QR code that verifies authenticity at a public link. Fourteen ready operational reports — workload, sign-out, pending/overdue, TAT compliance, cancer registry, productivity and more — print as branded PDFs.

Common questions
Is the Histopathology LIS cloud-based or on-premise?
It is a cloud (SaaS) system — there is no server to buy or maintain. You log in from any device, including touchscreens, and each lab is configured and branded separately.
Can Unimeditrek see our patients’ data?
No. The LIS is built on zero-knowledge tenant isolation: even Unimeditrek’s own administrators cannot read a lab’s clinical data. Support access requires the lab’s own time-limited, audited approval, and every access is logged.
Does it track cassettes, blocks and slides individually?
Yes. Every case, cassette, block and slide has its own printed Code128 barcode. Scanning at each station verifies the right item is at the right step and records a full chain of custody.
Does it support synoptic / cancer reporting and coding?
Yes — ICCR-style synoptic datasets for the common cancers, ICD-O-3 coding with reflex suggestions, and a computed cancer registry.
How are reports protected against forgery?
Reports are versioned and authorised, and each one carries a QR code that anyone can scan to confirm it is a genuine, unaltered Unimeditrek LIS report at a public verification link.
Is it suitable for NABL accreditation?
The system keeps the audit trails, QMS (NCR/CAPA), turnaround analytics, equipment and reagent records that accreditation assessors look for. Final compliance always rests with the laboratory.
Can we see it working?
Yes — request a guided demo and we will walk you through the full workflow on real cases, then set up a trial tenant for your lab.
