Reagent evaporation changes concentration
Reagents may appear more concentrated or darker than expected on the slide or block due to evaporation. This can lead to inconsistent staining and interpretation issues.
Where it usually appears: This issue is commonly observed during prolonged open storage of reagents or in warm environments.
- Prolonged exposure to air
- Inadequate sealing of reagent containers
- High ambient temperature
- Frequent opening of reagent containers
- Check the volume of the reagent in the container
- Inspect for signs of evaporation or residue
- Verify storage conditions
- Dilute the reagent to the correct concentration
- Replace the evaporated reagent with a fresh batch
- Ensure proper sealing of containers
- Store reagents in airtight containers
- Use desiccants in storage areas
- Maintain stable temperature conditions
