Processor vacuum/pressure failure
Tissue may appear poorly infiltrated or have air bubbles in the block.
Where it usually appears: Typically observed during embedding after tissue processing.
- Vacuum pump failure
- Clogged lines or filters
- Improper processor settings
- Power supply issues
- Mechanical failure of the processor
- Check vacuum pump operation
- Inspect tubing for blockages
- Confirm power supply to the processor
- Verify processor settings
- Repair or replace vacuum pump
- Clear any obstructions in lines
- Adjust processor settings as needed
- Restart the processor if necessary
- Schedule regular maintenance for vacuum system
- Inspect lines and filters routinely
- Train staff on proper processor use
