Coverslip lifts or slides off
The coverslip may be partially detached or completely off the slide, exposing the tissue section.
Where it usually appears: Typically observed after mounting and during storage or transport of slides.
- Inadequate mounting medium application
- Insufficient drying time before coverslipping
- Poor quality of coverslip or slide
- Contamination on slide or coverslip surface
- Inspect for air bubbles under the coverslip
- Check for proper adhesion of the mounting medium
- Reapply mounting medium and coverslip if necessary
- Store slides in a flat, stable position
- Ensure proper application of mounting medium
- Allow adequate drying time before coverslipping
- Use high-quality coverslips and slides
